 1. Does the Fugu carry-on comply with FAA regulations for allowed carry-on sizes?

When we sat down to design the Fugu carry-on, size was our first and foremost consideration since we always experienced this same challenge upon check-in. When Fugu is in compact mode, it adheres to the maximum dimensions allowable for carry-on by FAA regulations; in its expanded size, Fugu also complies with the maximum size for check-in.

 

2. Is the carry-on strong enough in its expanded size?

Yes, Fugu is extremely durable; its side panels are made of a special PVC material that is also used to produce surfboards and flotation devices. This means Fugu is impact resistant and can take on anything. We’ve even placed it under the weight of a car to test its strength and durability.

 

3. All that technology in one small package; how much does the Fugu carry-on weigh?

The Fugu carry-on is made of plastic, a relatively lightweight material, The expanding side panels add a mere 800 grams, making the total weight 3.8 kilos, pretty much like the average standard-size luggage available today, with all of the additional features included.

 

4. I saw the Fugu carry-on in green; will other colors be available?

Of course! A large selection of colors will be available, including  – but not limited to – black, grey, white, and blue.

 

5. What are the dimensions of the carry-on in both sizes?

Fugu’s dual dimensions are as follows:

• Compact: 50cm (length) X 40cm (width)  X 25CM (height)

• Expanded: 50cm (length) X 40cm (width) X 70cm (height)

 

6. I’m interested in purchasing one of my own, where is Fugu currently available?

You can purchase the Fugu carry-on on Kickstarter before it will be launched in stores. When you subscribe to purchase Fugu today, you’ll also have the chance to benefit from the early-bird discount of up to 30%. Our aim will be to have the first round of production following the campaign.

We are working with various manufacturers to determine the development and production costs involved, keeping in mind our top priority which is to deliver a carry-on of the highest possible quality and at a competitive price.
